History of KYB
In 1981, Wayne Williams, an elder at Northside Church of Christ in Wichita, KS, returned from a trip to San Diego, fired up about a TV program he had seen there. It was called Know Your Bible, and was produced by El Cajon Boulevard Church.
Problem was, no time slot was available that year on any local TV stations. Nor the next, or the next.... In 1986, we decided it wasn’t going to happen and no longer left room in the budget for a TV ministry.
In May 1986, the 10:00am slot on KSN opened up. The elders stepped out in faith, signed the contract, and began preparing to produce, broadcast, and pay for a Kansas version of the Know Your Bible program. Louis Tandy and David Lawrence were selected to answer questions; Steve Tandy became moderator.
In a matter or weeks, we had everything ready to go - except the money. On June 15th, the congregation was asked to give or pledge enough money to get us going. No one (on earth) knew what the response would be. When the giving was counted, it was almost $54,000! The program aired on July 13, 1986.
1986-Present
From that first episode in 1986 until June 2025, weekly segments have aired on KSN Wichita each Sunday morning at 10:00am. Friendly volunteers have staffed a toll-free number to take calls and questions each week.
As word spread about this simple strategy for sharing the word of God, several churches in other states partnered with Know Your Bible to bring the TV show to their local viewers. Many tuned in weekly across Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, and South Dakota, to hear their questions, and the questions of others, answered simply via the Bible.
While the delivery channel has changed from regional TV to internet channels, with the ability to reach further (nationally, and even internationally), the goal and methods of KYB have stayed consistent - answering the questions you have utilizing nothing but what the Bible teaches as a means of spreading the Good News of Jesus.
Classic KYB content can still be found in our program archive and library of content on our YouTube channel. And your questions are still answered each week. As we learn and adjust to the needs and learning styles of today's audience, we look forward to adding even more tools to help you learn and grow in Christ.

It is impossible to know the number of people who have tuned in to a TV episode, submitted questions, studied via the Bible correspondence courses, and come to know their Creator through this simple Bible Q&A program. Only God knows all the good that has come from the faithfulness of those who have supported and been involved with KYB throughout the years. Won't it be awesome to meet others in heaven who are there because of Know Your Bible?!
